Världen Enligt Runeberg
Good Condition
Language: Finnish
In contemporary letters and in his wife's notes, he is usually called Rgb. Who was Johan Ludvig Runeberg, this strangely elusive person? What did he believe in? Where did he stand politically? Who did he love? The descriptions of scholars contradict each other. The importance of Runeberg's poetry for the Finnish nation's self-understanding and for the image of Finland in the Nordic countries and Germany cannot be measured. As a political symbol, he became the object of immeasurable admiration and deepest disgust. But that is precisely why the living and feeling man and poet has disappeared from the public consciousness and been replaced by stereotypical notions of a bronze figure. What Runeberg himself really wanted to say, in what world he lived and felt, has been hidden under masses of ideological rubble. What did he see in his surroundings?
