In The Hapman Story, a group of cousins initiate an investigation into a situation where an aunt has died, and no family members were notified of the death. The will of an uncle, who had died previously, had created a trust, but no one could find the record of the trust either.

The investigation begins with a trip to south Florida and conversations dredging up old memories. Family members go through a variety of attorneys and elected representatives. There are endless telephone calls to various offices, and trips be- tween Florida and Michigan, including the upper peninsula, as well as Indiana, South Carolina, Minnesota, and Iowa, in the attempt to put together information with memories of earlier times and relationships.

The various situations in which MARIAN ALICE ADAMS has been in- volved over her lifetime lend them- selves to the qualities required to carrying out an investigation. There have been years with the OSU Research Foundation, North American Aviation, Ford Motor Company, and Lockheed Martin; also, travel to Eu- rope and the Caribbean, sitting on boards of the PTO, League of Women Voters, and a Unitarian fellowship, as well as attending national annual meetings as a delegate, in addition to other volunteer activities and raising three children.
